Document Cycle Management Process Flow

The flow of a document through Cycle Management could involve all three cycles:

All cycles may take place concurrently. The Endorsement cycle requires at least one version of the item to be approved.

In the example shown above, users in each cycle may be the same or they may change. For example, an Engineering team may author a document that describes how a product is manufactured. The lead engineer initiates a Review cycle for other engineers to annotate the document, and then initiates an Approval cycle when the document is ready for final sign-off. At that point, the Endorsement cycle may be a sign-off by production technicians who need to demonstrate their understanding of how a particular part is assembled.
