Use Custom Data

Custom data is the data element with a value assigned as shown in the example in Custom Data Procedures.

Task

Procedure

Add custom data to objects

  1. Select the object in the diagram.

  2. On the Edit menu, choose Properties.

  3. In the Properties dialog box, click the Custom Data page.

  4. Enter data for every data element you want to apply to the object, then click OK.

Add custom data to a diagram

  1. Right-click on the diagram in the Document Components window and choose Properties.

  2. In the Properties dialog box, click the Custom Data page.

  3. Enter data for every data element you want to apply to the diagram or document, then click OK.

Add custom data to a document

  1. From the File menu, choose File Properties.

  2. In the File Properties dialog box, click the Custom Data page.

  3. Enter data for every data element you want to apply to the diagram or document, then click OK.

View custom data in the diagram

To view custom data on another object, select the object and, on the Edit menu, choose Properties.

To add a summary of custom data, on the Insert menu, choose Custom Data Summary.
