Sheet Components

iGrafx documents can contain sheet components in addition to diagrams. They provide basic spreadsheet features you can use to display and manipulate data and also make calculations. The types of sheets included are: Basic sheet, FMEA sheet, and Prioritization Matrix.

Sheets can be used as the only components in documents or in combination with diagrams. When used in conjunction with diagrams, you may link cells, columns, or rows in the sheets to objects in the diagrams such as shapes. These links are bidirectional so you can create dynamic links between the sheet and diagram. Changes made in the sheets are reflected in the diagrams, and changes made to the diagrams update the data displayed in the sheets.

The prioritization matrix contains calculated fields of weighted importance to determine the most important steps in a process.

The FMEA automatically inserts an occurrence ranking if you set values for causes and sample size. You can export a Cause and Effect diagram to FMEA as explained in Generate FMEA, or add an FMEA component.

Task

Procedure

Create a new document that contains a sheet component

On the File menu, point to New and choose a sheet template. For example, choose a Basic Sheet from the Business category.

Create a custom template for a sheet component

Save a modified sheet component as a template (*.igt file). By default, you will be prompted whether to save in your Personal Templates location. Regardless of where you save the template, you can open it on the File menu, by pointing to New, then selecting and creating, or browsing for, the template where you chose to store it.

Copy sheet data to an existing Excel spreadsheet

This task requires Excel 2003 or later. If you have an earlier version of Excel, you can save a sheet as XML and open it with Excel.

  1. Open the Excel spreadsheet where you want to copy the sheet data.

  2. In the sheet, select a group of cells, right-click, and choose Copy

  3. Right-click in the Excel spreadsheet and choose Paste.
