Named Ranges in Sheet Components

Use named ranges to assign a name to a single cell or a range of cells to format cells and insert shorter formulas. You can add, delete, and rename named ranges in sheets. Allowed names start with a letter, contain only letters, numbers, and underscores. To prevent ambiguity, range names also cannot be identical to Excel-style cell references such as “A1” or “R1C1.” Named range names are not case-sensitive.

The built-in priority matrix and FMEA sheets use formulas and locks. Lock a named range to protect it from being deleted or renamed (see Lock Sheets, Data, Formats, and Named Ranges).

Named ranges can be formatted as explained in Format and Design Appearance of Sheets.
