VSM Rollup and Data Accumulation

You can roll up Lean data from child maps in a VSM. All data defined by a Lean type contributes to the total time.

Rollup data intelligently gathers information for display in a parent map. Unlike custom data accumulation, Rollup data gathers data from a child map’s Timeline, using the Timeline that you specify. Rollup is automatic when this feature is enabled.

Lean custom data and Rollup data map different behaviors. If you roll up data, you cannot edit or display custom data. You must add custom data to the child map’s Timeline to show the custom data.

The Accumulation Method you choose in the Setup Custom Data dialog box specifies how custom data on multiple shapes should be combined for accumulation purposes. This information is used to create the summary custom data information shown in the Timeline Summary box, and is also used by the Custom Data Summary and for accumulation from a linked diagram.

You can accumulate custom data on linked steps. For information, see the procedure in Manage Custom Data Element Definitions.
