Properties dialog box - RACI page
The shape or diagram RACI page behavior depends upon whether the shape or diagram Describes an enterprise object (EO) or not:
For a shape or diagram that describes an EO, you can view the RACI information set on the EO and can jump to that EO to edit its RACI information if you have the appropriate application and permissions to edit it in the repository. You can also change the automatic swimlane-based RACI if desired.
For a shape that does not describe an EO, you can set or view RACI assignments that apply to a shape, and set the default swimlane-based RACI type for the diagram that can be used on each shape in the diagram.
For Shapes or Diagrams That Describe an EO
When using a Describes relationship, once a shape or diagram describes an EO, the RACI information is owned by the described EO and is read-only in the RACI page for the shape or diagram.
If you want to edit the RACI properties of the described EO (and if you have permissions to do so), click the Jump To button to jump from the shape or diagram to the described EO’s properties.
You may still use the automatic swimlane-based RACI relationship for shapes or diagrams that describe an EO. Please see the discussion of swimlane-based RACI below.
For Shapes or Diagrams That Do Not Describe an EO
When not using Describes relationships for the shape or diagram, you will be assigning RACI directly on that shape or diagram. Use any of the following ways to assign RACI types at an activity:
Specify individual RACI when you want to assign RACI types at each individual shape with the highest degree of flexibility, but also the most maintenance. Click the Add button, choose the RACI category, make your Resource choice in the Choose Resource dialog box, and click OK.
Use the Swimlane Based RACI when you want one RACI category automatically assigned at each shape in the diagram, based on the swimlane where the shape is drawn (please see the discussion of swimlane-based RACI below). This option requires the least amount of maintenance and is the default for new diagrams.
Swimlane Based RACI
Swimlane-based RACI automatically assigns one RACI category (e.g. Responsible) to each shape in the diagram, based on the swimlane where the shape is drawn. The following describes the Swimlane Based RACI option depending upon whether you are displaying the RACI page for a shape, or for a diagram:
For a shape: By default, swimlane-based RACI uses the Set by Diagram Properties setting, which means it will use the settings specified in the RACI page of the Diagram Properties dialog box. If you want to, you can set a specific RACI type instead of using the Diagram Properties, or not use swimlane-based RACI for this shape; click the drop-down list to make a change.
Note: While displaying the RACI page for a shape, the button opens the Diagram Properties dialog box to the RACI page.
For a diagram: This option sets the default RACI category that shapes in the diagram will use for swimlane-based RACI. For example, if it is set to Responsible, then an automatic Responsible RACI relationship will be made from the shapes in the diagram to the swimlane that they are placed in. You can change the RACI category that is used by default for all shapes, or turn the feature off if desired.
Note: If Set Default Swimlane Based RACI for shapes is disabled in the Diagram Properties dialog box, then automatic assignments are disabled across the entire diagram and any RACI assignments must be made manually.
