Events

All input collections to an activity can be controlled through events (see Input Collections). For example, when you specify to batch collect inputs to an activity, you can also specify that the batch can enter the activity only when a specific event occurs (e.g., Batch By Time, Every_Morning).

Days displayed in green represent active time, days displayed in gray are inactive.

Task

Procedure

Define an event

  1. On the Model toolbar, click the events_tool.bmp tool.
    or
    On the Model menu, choose Events.

  2. In the Define Event dialog box, select an event that is similar to the one you want and click the Add button.

  3. In the Add New Event dialog box, enter an event name and click OK.

    Use the Define buttons to change the days and hours for the event.

Create a composite event

  1. On the Model menu, choose Events.

  2. In the Define Event dialog box, click the Composite button and add schedules, days or hours using the Insert Days/Hours button or the Insert Schedule button.

Assign an event to an activity

  1. Double-click an activity and click the Inputs page in the Shape Properties dialog box.

  2. Select the Collect Transactions at Input check box.
  3. Select a collection method, such as Batch.

  4. Select By Time in the list of input methods.

  5. Click the Event option, select an event, and click OK.
