Generating SAP Blueprint Diagrams

You can generate a series of diagrams from your SAP process landscape that visualize Blueprint hierarchy and contextual relationships. You may use these diagrams to understand your SAP Project structure, including which objects are actually used (In Scope) or not. This is particularly true if you have performed process discovery on your real-time SAP system and updated the Blueprint with that information. In addition, the Blueprint diagrams can also be used for analysis and reporting, by generating them once you are ready to synchronize your updates to SAP Solution Manager. You can visualize any custom Transactions created, which objects you’ve marked out of scope, and so on.

Remember that SAP process landscapes contain a four level hierarchical process structure: Project, Scenario, Process, and Process Step. You can generate Hierarchy diagrams that illustrate the hierarchical relationships between the levels of the SAP Process landscape. You may also generate Context diagrams that illustrate contextual information about relationships from the SAP process landscape object to other SAP objects such as Master Data, End User Roles, and Transactions.

The following table gives procedural information for generating and using Blueprint diagrams:

Procedure

Generate SAP Blueprint Diagrams

  1. Right-click the Project, Scenario, or Process you want to generate diagrams for, and choose Generate SAP Blueprint Diagram from the context menu. The Generate SAP Blueprint Diagram dialog box appears.

  2. Configure those objects you want Hierarchy or Context diagrams generated for. You choices for which objects to include depend on which level of the process landscape you right-clicked on; some choices unavailable (grayed out) for lower levels of the SAP landscape. Choices may include:

    • For Hierarchy Diagrams: Projects, Scenarios, and Processes (Generating diagrams for Processes will show contained Process Steps).
    • For Context Diagrams: Projects, Scenarios, Processes, Process Steps, End User Roles, Master Data, Transactions, and Organizational Units.
  3. Click the OK button to generate an iGrafx document (file) that contains diagrams for the object types you chose.

Note: Many diagrams may be generated. Please be patient while iGrafx creates all the diagrams you requested.

Note: A Legend diagram is also created. Use the Document Components window to view the Legend diagram.

Use (Navigate) SAP Blueprint Diagrams

Once the diagrams have been generated, double-click on a shape to view any linked objects. For some objects, you may need to right-click the object and choose the linked-to object from the context (pop-up) menu.

Links are created to any objects lower in the SAP process landscape, and sometimes to related (context) information. In addition, there are shapes at the top of the diagram with links to a Context diagram, and any sub-diagram has an ‘Up Arrow’ shape to return to its parent.

Any out of scope objects are shown with a dashed border, and any custom Transactions are shown with a thick border.

Note: Remember that you may use the Standard toolbar forward and back buttons to navigate through viewed diagrams. Also remember that you may navigate the hierarchy of an iGrafx file using the Document Components window. You can find the Legend diagram using the All Components view.
