Document resources are either local or attached repository resources. The Attach command creates the attached resources from a selected repository and the attached resources are distinguished from local resources by a globe overlay on the resource icon. In the document, the properties and relationships of attached repository resources can be edited in the same manner as local resources to allow what-if analysis. Attached resources can’t be deleted or renamed. Edits to attached resources do not affect the repository.
The Update command attaches new repository resources to the document and updates attached repository resource names and values.
The Update & Replace command performs an Update and also resets the properties and relationships of attached repository resources to their current repository values.
The Detach command removes the attachment between the document resources and the repository. All attached resources are converted to local resources.
