Work and Delay Process Steps

Work or Delay types of Task settings are used to specify the duration of the activity. The duration of an activity is the time the activity will consume during simulation. The duration is applied to Work time or to Blocked time (time delayed, or blocked from proceeding) in the simulation report.

The durations may be constant (an unchanging average), distributed (normally or uniformly), or use an expression that can use statistical functions such as Weibull or Exponential distributions. Units you may use for durations vary from seconds to years, and each activity may have its own duration units. You may enter fractional numbers for the units; for example, 0.000001 seconds (1 microsecond), or 3.14159 years; all values entered will be converted to seconds by the simulator.

You may limit the work of the activity to a certain schedule, control overtime behavior, limit capacity, repeat a task, and specify other controls on how the task is performed.
