Resource Actions

You specify how an activity uses a resource in the Properties dialog box - Resources page. By default, the Action is set to Activity, which means the resource is acquired and released at this step of the process.

An activity can also acquire resources and keep them with the transaction until released by a later activity. For example, at a print shop, the printing machine is cleaned regularly. When it is time to clean (for example, a transaction enters an activity called Start Cleaning), a worker sets up and then remains acquired until multiple activities that perform all the cleaning tasks are done. The printing machine is acquired for activities Clean Rollers and Replace Toner, and then both resources are released.
