Attach Graphics to Lines

When you drag and drop a graphic onto a line in a diagram, the graphic is not automatically attached to the line. You can see this by dragging a shape on either side of the graphic to move the connector line out from under it. To attach a graphic to a line:

  1. Start with two connected shapes.

  2. Drag and drop a graphic in the Shape Palettes (e.g. a person carrying a box in the VSM All palette) over the connector line where you intend to place the graphic.

  3. Release the mouse button to place the graphic. The red square in the center indicates that the graphic selected and may be attached (connected) to an object such as a line.

  4. Drag and drop the red square in the middle of the graphic on top of the line, and release the mouse button. The graphic is now called out (attached) to the line.

  5. If you move either shape, the graphic stays attached to the connector line.

To remove the connection, right-click the graphic and choose Detach Graphic from Line.

To unattach the graphic, select it, then click and drag from the red square on the line back into the graphic.
