Diagram Properties dialog box - Behavior page

Sets diagram-level properties for the current diagram and specifies process properties for a subprocess diagram. It is available from the Model menu and the Properties dialog box - Task page - Step tab when Process is selected.

This dialog box is distinguished in appearance from the shape Properties dialog box - Guide page by the diagram name in the title bar of the dialog box.

Element

Description

Callable Process

Indicates this process diagram is a Callable Process; typically used as a subprocess to another process. Pass arguments that create attribute data to the diagram (or embedded process) by enabling the Callable Process option and clicking the Arguments button. Please see the Callable Process topic for more information on Callable Processes.

Join Before Complete

Collects completed duplicate transactions within this process and joins all the family members created in or under the process. Ignores duplicated transactions that do not complete.

If this option is turned off, family members may leave the subprocess activity as soon as they complete the process, independent of each other.

This option is only available in Process type diagrams, as BPMN type diagrams must have Join Before Complete behavior.

Ad-Hoc

Activities within a process are not controlled or sequenced in a particular order.

Shape indicator: ~ symbol

Currently are simulated as regular processes.

Business Transaction

The transaction may not leave the process until the same Business Transaction in another process has finished. Can cancel the handling of the process.

Shape indicator: double outline

Currently are simulated as regular processes.

Compensable

May catch a thrown compensation. See the Compensate information on the Properties dialog box - Task page - On Completion tab for information on throwing a compensation.

BPMN Options

Gateways are required to merge flow–Only gateways can have multiple incoming sequence flow. Some organizations establish this as a best practice.

Show Event and Gateway markers–Graphically displays BPMN markers for events and gateways on the diagram.

  • Show Exclusive Gateway with ‘X’ marker–Graphically displays the optional ‘X’ indicator for Exclusive gateway types. This option is only available when Show Event and Gateway markers is selected.

  • Use Border color for Event/Gateway markers –The marker in an Event or Gateway (e.g. the ‘X’ indicator) uses the color of the shape border.
