iGrafx SAP Enterprise Objects Overview

The iGrafx SAP Platform Extension creates enterprise objects from the SAP Blueprint project data, and places those objects in specially-named SAP folders in an iGrafx repository. You may use the Repository window's tree view to navigate the enterprise objects. In iGrafx, you can define relationships between enterprise-level SAP objects and create new objects as needed in the repository. SAP-related project documentation can be added as well, such as referencing implementation requirements or work instructions.

Relationships created between SAP enterprise objects in the repository can be viewed in any iGrafx client. Diagram authors can indicate how a diagram or shape Describes the use of objects such as an SAP Scenario or Process (a repository Process enterprise object), SAP Process Step (Activity EO), or SAP Transaction (Operation EO).

Once you understand SAP Objects and their definition, it is helpful to understand where those SAP objects are represented in the iGrafx repository. The table below describes each type of enterprise object related to SAP Blueprint project data that exists in the repository, and its definition. The table lists objects in the order that you will see the object in the repository tree.

Processes, including Activities

Processes and Activities in the repository Processes folder represent a sequence of operations and events that produce an outcome, can be composed of other processes (subprocesses) or activities, and are related together in a hierarchical structure or process landscape.

Processes and Activities are created in an SAP folder within the Processes folder of the repository, as follows:

Business Scenario or Business Process: Creates a Process in the repository. Level 1 (Scenario) and Level 2 (Process) of the Blueprint project hierarchy.

Process Step: Creates an Activity in the repository. Level 3 of the Blueprint project hierarchy.

Resources

Resources in iGrafx can represent labor, equipment, and other assets used to perform the work of the enterprise. In the iGrafx repository, they are either categorized as Organizations and placed in a hierarchical list of organizations, or classified as Labor, Equipment, or other resources and placed in a Resource List.

Resources enterprise objects represent the SAP End User Roles and Logical Components that support Transactions and Process Steps, as well as Organizational Units that support Projects and Scenarios. They are available as follows in the repository, under an SAP folder:

End User Roles: Shown as Labor type resources and placed under the Person resource in the Resource List.

Logical Components: Shown as Equipment type resources and placed under IT Architecture in the Resource List.

Organizational Units: Shown as Organization type resources, and placed under the Organizations list.

Interfaces, including Operations

Interfaces represent the interface, services, and operations offered by a resource.

SAP Transactions are shown as Operations, grouped within an Interface that is named after, and dependent upon, the Logical Component resource that the Transaction is running on. The interface and operation objects are placed in an SAP folder within the Interfaces folder in the repository.

Classes

Represent programmatic data and classes used to implement systems. Class objects represent the Master Data in the Blueprint project, and are placed under an SAP folder in the Classes folder in the repository.
