Manage Repository Folders

When you place a document in a folder, all of its diagrams and components are moved to the folder. You cannot place individual diagrams or components in a folder.

Task

Procedure

View contents of a folder

Click the plus sign next to the folder icon.

Add a folder to a repository

In the Repository window, right-click an item and choose New Folder.

Add the currently active document to a folder

In the Repository window, right-click a folder and choose Add <document name>.

Move an item within a folder (sort the folder)

Drag and drop the item to the location within the list of folder contents where you want it displayed.

Note: If you no longer want the contents of a folder sorted manually, right-click on the folder and choose Sort Contents. This command will be inactive (grayed out) if the folder is already automatically sorted.

Note: Objects that you cannot view (e.g. due to Permissions restrictions) are not sorted, and those objects are placed at the end of the list.

Move an item to a folder

Drag and drop the item to a new folder and click OK in the resulting confirmation dialog (or click Cancel to cancel the move).

Note: If drop the item on the folder, an automatic sort of that item is performed. If you drop to a specific position in the folder, a manual sort is performed.

Note: If you prefer, you may use the Move command in the Repositories > Item submenu:

  1. In the Repository window, click the document to be moved.

  2. On the Repositories menu, point to Item and choose Move.

  3. In the resulting Move dialog box, select a folder.

Note: You can move documents to other folders residing in the same repository, but cannot move documents to folders residing in other repositories.
