A text area creates a container that wraps text as you type. The text area you create outside a shape maintains the same position regardless of other shapes around it.

Select the text and, on the Format menu, choose Text Alignment. |

Attaching a text area to a shape keeps it at a specific distance away, and if the shape or line is moved, the attached object moves with it. To attach a text area to a shape:
Graphics that are imported or pasted from other applications can also be anchored to shapes using the above procedure. To make the callout line visible, from the Format menu, choose Callout Line, and choose a color other than ‘None’. If you want to see or hide all callout lines and other borders that are currently hidden, on the View menu, choose Hidden Lines command to hide or display the called out text. |

Right-click the text block and choose Detach Text from Shape or Detach Text from Line. |

On the View menu, choose Hidden Lines. |

Click the text area and, on the Format menu, choose Line and Border. |
|
Click the text area and, on the Format menu, choose Fill. |
